I began there. I was once a novelist, then I was a mom, and it wasn’t until I a friend gave me a much-needed nudge that I began to combine the two. Even then, it was a rocky journey. I couldn’t figure out how to make time for writing outside of parenting and paid work, and even when I did, the guilt threatened to derail me.

This is my story, but it’s also the story of many other mothers. Through trial and error, we have found ways to find the humor in this fascinating dance.
